Evening Fragrance Layering: Red Addiction + Black Velours

For nights out, layering a warm, amber-woody oil with a fruity floral gives you a scent that's rich and inviting without being heavy. This pairing combines glowing amber and saffron with juicy blackcurrant and rose.

Meet the Two Oils

Red Addiction (goes on first)

Top: Saffron, Jasmine
Heart: Amberwood, Cedarwood, Ethyl Maltol (Cotton Candy/Burnt Sugar accord)
Base: Ambroxan, Fir Resin, Oakmoss, Musk

Black Velours (goes on top)

Top: blackcurrant, mandarin, bergamot
Heart: rose, jasmine, peony
Base: amberwood, sandalwood, musk, vanilla

Why These Two Work Together

Red Addiction opens with saffron and jasmine over amberwood, cedarwood and a cotton-candy / burnt-sugar accord, and dries down to ambroxan, fir resin, oakmoss and musk. Black Velours opens with blackcurrant, mandarin and bergamot, blooms into rose, jasmine and peony, and settles into amberwood, sandalwood, musk and vanilla.

They share jasmine, amberwood and musk, so the two fuse into one warm, glowing scent, with Black Velours adding a fruity-floral brightness on top.

How to Layer Them, Step by Step

  1. Start with moisturized skin. Warm, amber-woody blends last longest on hydrated skin.
  2. Apply Red Addiction first: one dab on each wrist and at the base of your neck. It's the richer oil, so it anchors the blend.
  3. After about a minute, add one dab of Black Velours on each spot for the blackcurrant and rose on top.
  4. Let them blend on their own; no rubbing.
  5. Give it 20–30 minutes: the shared amberwood and musk create the smooth, long-lasting evening trail.

Make the Blend Your Own

  • Fruitier: two dabs of Black Velours to one of Red Addiction.
  • Warmer and deeper: two dabs of Red Addiction to one of Black Velours.
  • Close to the skin: Red Addiction on your wrists only, Black Velours behind the ears, for a softer, more personal trail.

Tip: before wearing any new fragrance oil all day, try a small amount on a patch of skin first.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why put the amber oil on first?

Richer, woody-amber oils make a long-lasting base; the brighter fruity-floral oil on top keeps its sparkle.

Is this too strong for daytime?

Use one dab of each, or try the close-to-the-skin variation for a softer daytime version.

What do these two oils have in common?

Jasmine, amberwood and musk appear in both, which is why they blend so smoothly.
