You might be wondering why your shoes begin to stink after a while. Anyone can have smelly shoes and it’s not because of the shoes themselves. The cause of shoe odor is all the bacteria thriving in the damp environment of your shoe. These bacteria come from your feet. The human feet contain around 250,000 sweat glands. When we wear shoes, these glands are confined. The sweat and warmth create a breeding ground for bacteria. The bacteria love dark and damp places like the inside of sweaty soles.
You must have noticed that some people have stinkier feet and shoes. This can be caused by a medical condition or hormones. Teenagers and pregnant women tend to have smellier feet because of the high number of hormones in their bodies.
Smelly feet cause smelly shoes. Knowing this, we can try to reduce foot odor so that our shoes will not stink too much. Shoe sprays have also become widely used these days as a simple way to deodorize smelly shoes. The problem with this shoe sprays is that they only mask the smell with synthetic fragrances. Eventually, the shoes become smellier and mustier.
